These Baby Sloths Are Having A Chat And The Internet Is Weak In The Knees

When was the last time you had a conversation with an animal? If you are like most people, you probably talk to your dog or cat on a regular basis. Some of us even make up a cartoon character’s voice and speak back as if it were the dog talking! It certainly can help to pass the hours when we are bored and it also helps us to have a closer connection with our animals. As it turns out, it is more than just those conversations that we have. There are also animals that do a little bit of talking in real life.

A good example of this is the sloth. They live in tropical rainforests in South and Central America and they look somewhat like a monkey. They have long arms but rather than swinging through the trees very quickly, they move extremely slow. In fact, the world’s slowest animal is the three-toed sloth and you might be surprised with the fact that they are moving, even though it appears as if they are almost standing still. They may look like monkeys but they are probably more closely related to an armadillo or an anteater.

National Geographic theorizes that the sloth moves slowly to avoid predators noticing them. They move so slowly that sometimes, they have algae growing on their bodies and that helps to act as a camouflage.

In Costa Rica, there is a sloth sanctuary and they want to let people know about how important they are to the environment. When a baby sloth is left behind for any reason, they may end up at the sanctuary to be cared for tenderly.
